Wireless Standards Board
 

Role

The UCLA Wireless Standards Board (WSB) has been created by the UCLA Information Technology Planning Board (ITPB) through the UCLA Common Systems Group (CSG) and is charged with the following:

  • Set technical and operational standards for the UCLA Unified Public Network (UPN), including how the UPN interacts with other wireless networks on campus
  • Inform the UCLA community of the established standards
  • Promote the use of the UPN
  • Conduct evaluations of new wireless technologies that can be included within the UPN or that may have an impact on it
  • Resolve conflicts arising in implementation of wireless, and refer unresolvable conflicts to the UCLA Office of Information Technology (OIT) for resolution
  • Conduct periodic assessments of wireless on campus and reporting of the outcomes to various stakeholders
